MENTAL DISORDERS & THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM

Mental Disorders are those diseases that affect the human cognition, emotion, behavior control and sustainability and affect the ability of the person to learn and work, within the society.

In this case, the disease can be said to change the person’s thinking and behavior that makes them be distressed and difficulty in function.

This makes the illness within the individual be distinct in many ways due to various types of mental illness. On the other hand, the mental disorder has complex etiologies that involve the interactions among multiple genetic and non-genetic risk factors. However, up to present times, it has been identified that ECS can resolve related mental outcomes. For example, Serra & Fratta (2007) argue that endocannabinoids are used in regulating emotions and controlling of the motivational behavior in patients that presents symptoms such as drug addiction, depression, and anxiety.
